Spanning four decades, Dr. Hamblin’s experience includes Principal Investigator at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital; Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School; affiliated faculty of the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Science and Technology; editor for 10 journals, author of 23 textbooks, 600+ peer-reviewed articles; holds 8 patents. The world’s most documented authority on neuromodulation. Chaired the annual conference at SPIE Photonics West, edited the 10 proceedings volumes and four other major textbooks on PDT and photomedicine. Recipient of numerous awards for outstanding contributions to light science. Currently Distinguished Visiting Professor, Laser Research Centre, University of Johannesburg. 

Trained as a synthetic organic chemist with a PhD from Trent University, England, his research interests lie in photodynamic therapy (PDT) for infections, cancer, and stimulation of the immune system, and in low-level light therapy (LLLT) for wound healing, arthritis, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases, and psychiatric disorders.  

We are honored to have Dr. Hamblin on our Board as an infrared light advisor. His extensive research has brought understanding and insight to the myriad ways infrared interacts with the body and can be used to help people around the world. His expertise in photobiomodulation is highly sought after and we greatly value his contributions to the knowledge base of infrared light. 

DIRECTOR, DISCOVERY HEALTH SOLUTIONS

Debbie Floyd is the director of Discovery Health Solutions, a science-based education and certification program for a growing international consortium of medical practitioners in every field of practice, including MDs, Dos, PHDs, RNs NDs nutritionists, therapists, health coaches and patient advocates. She was the director of Klinghardt Academy/Discovery Health Solutions for 10 years from 2010 to 2020 and conducted each workshop and conference, establishing the Klinghardt Practitioner Certification Program in the USA.  Discovery Health Solutions offers classes in the USA on muscle testing and how to build individual protocols for chronic and persistent conditions for patients as well as practitioners. Her wealth of knowledge grew out of her own personal experiences dealing with and finding solutions to health struggles of her family members. She has been a friend and partner of Sunlighten for many years, and we have valued her partnership in educating the world about infrared sauna therapy.

Dr. Joel Kahn, founder Kahn Center for Cardiac Longevity, is a practicing cardiologist in Detroit and a clinical professor of medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan Medical School and trained in interventional cardiology in Dallas and Kansas City. Known as “America’s Holistic Heart Doc,” Kahn is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and maintains sub-specialty board certification in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. A vegan since 1977, he promotes a whole-food, plant-based diet consisting of fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains to prevent chronic disease. During his lifetime he aims to prevent a million heart attacks.
